TULSA, OK—JUNE 8, 2019—Bluemoonteller (5-1), a 4-year-old son of multiple stakes sire Teller Cartel, took a quick lead and held off Lota Pyc Chrome by a neck to win the $17,500 Golden Driller Stakes Sunday night at Fair Meadows in Tulsa. Postime favorite and defending champion Hooked On A Win finished a half-length back in third.

Ridden by jockey Mario Delgado, Bluemoonteller rolled over the 350 yards on a sloppy sealed racetrack in :17.358 seconds, equaling a 103 speed index. It was the fifth career win and first stakes victory for the sorrel gelding. The $8,784 winners' purse boosted his earnings total to $45,841.

R.L. Rick Robinson conditions Bluemoonteller for owner Three Bar T Quarter Horses. Billy Kothmann bred the gelding in Texas from the Mr Eye Opener mare Blue Moon Bye Bye.

Runner-up Lota Pyc Chrome earned $3,428 for owner-trainer Diego L. Meza. Cody Smith rode the Lota Pyc gelding out of Miss Desert Chrome by The Desert Jewel. Dennis Babb Trust bred the 4-year-old in Oklahoma. The multiple stakes-placed gelding has earned more than $87,000.

Looking to win his second consecutive Golden Driller Stakes, Hooked On A Win had to settle for third earning $1,886. Kenny Laymon trains the multiple stakes winning son of leading sire Pyc Paint Your Wagon for Regina Laymon. JK Running Horses LLC bred the bay in Oklahoma from the Pretty Boy Perry mare Pretty Girl Kate. Daniel Torres was riding the earner of $121,139.

Bluemoonteller rewarded backers with a $11.60 to win, $4.40 to place and $3.40 to show.

Luv My Bully, Fly N Tell, Htr Miamor Tequilla, Express Train No 9, Jesse Joe and Jesstell Cartel completed the field.
