Sheza Fearless Fire Fastest Qualifier to G.C.F.A 79 & Under Speed Index Sprint at Gillespie
Sheza Fearless Fire posted the fastest time in the $20,000 G.C.F.A 79 & Under Speed Index Sprint (not black-type) trials at Gillespie County Fairground Saturday.

FREDERICKSBURG, TX—JULY 20, 2019—Opening day at Gillespie Fairgrounds included two trials for the $20,000 G.C.F.A 79 & Under Speed Index Sprint (not black-type). The final, scheduled for August 11, is open to 3-year-olds and up that have not run a speed index of 80 or higher.

Two trials at 330 yards produced the ten fastest qualifiers, led by Sheza Fearless Fire, winner of the second trial with a time of 17.190.

Sheza Fearless Fire, ridden by Heriberto Aguilar Orozco, broke her maiden in the trial, which was just her third career start. The 3-year-old filly is trained by Jose Lopez for owner Valerie Moya. She had been off for a year prior to her trial win at Gillespie; she debuted at Delta in a trial for the Firecracker Futurity and competed in a maiden race at Retama.

Sheza Fearless Fire was bred in Nevada by William Nolan, by Tres Seis and out of Fearless Fire, by Walk Through Fire. Fearless Fire is a full sister to multiple graded stakes winner and world champion Heza Dasha Fire.

Second place finisher Tee Isabelle finished with a time of 17.513 as the second fastest overall qualifier.

Tee Isabelle debuted at Gillespie last year as a 2-year-old, she has also raced at Lone Star and Delta in her five career starts. Still a maiden, Tee Isabelle finished in the money for the first time in Saturday’s trial.

Tee Isabelle was ridden by Francisco Mendez for trainer Manuel Roman and owner Val Gonzalez. John Hamlin and Chad Soileau bred the filly in Louisiana, by Tee Cos and out of Made Women, by Identity Theft.

Third fastest qualifier Charles First Angel posted a time of 17.542 as the winner of the first trial. The 4-year-old mare began her racing career this year and broke her maiden in the trial, just her third career start.

Ignacio Bustamante was aboard for trainer Andre Brooks and owner Walter Charles Brooks. Charles First Angel was bred in Texas by C Bar H Quarter Horses, by A Regal Choice and out of RD Diamondsrspecial, by Plain Special.
