True Copy Adds Another Stakes Win in Grande Prairie Sprint Stakes

GRANDE PRAIRIE, AB—JULY 20, 2019—Multiple stakes winner True Copy continued her winning ways in the $8,800 Grande Prairie Sprint Stakes (not black-type) on Saturday evening. The filly won the 110-yard dash by three-quarters of a length with a final time of 7.428.

True Copy ($9.90) was ridden by Ricardo Moreno for trainer William Leech and owner Charles Stojan. The 4-year-old daughter of TR Dasher was bred in California by Ed Allred and is out of the Separatist mare Realistically.

In her career, True Copy has 10 wins in 18 starts and has never finished worse than fourth. As a 2-year-old, she won the Canada Quarter Horse Cup Futurity (RG3) at Century Downs and last year she won the All Canadian Derby at Lethbridge.

Jd Wagon Boss and Jose Rocha finished second in the short stake for trainer and owner Buckey Stockwell.

Jd Wagon Boss is a stakes winner and multiple stakes placed, including a second-place finish in the AQHA John Deere Juvenile Challenge (G2) at Prairie Meadows in 2017. The Canadian-based colt has recently been competing in stakes at Los Alamitos and has also raced in trials at Remington and Ruidoso.

The 4-year-old colt was bred in Oklahoma by Jean Dillard, by Pyc Paint Your Wagon and out of Elly Mae, by Fishers Dash.

Heza Southern Cartel was just a nose behind Jd Wagon Boss in third place. The 3-year-old son of Carters Cartel was ridden by Trevor Simpson for trainer Tom Kenway and owners Garry Nielson and James Dunn.

Heza Southern Cartel was bred in Oklahoma by Flag Ranch, LLC, out of the Valiant Hero mare SS Southern Lady. This was his first career stakes placing in nine starts.

Completing the field were Knotty Knita, Grandma Ruth, Its Official, Canadian Timber and Ima Runnin First.
