Fantastic Minion Holds Off Acadillac To Win Governors Cup Handicap

EVANSTON, WY—AUGUST 10, 2019—Fantastic Minion held off a late surge from Acadillac to win the $10,350 Governors' Cup Handicap (not black type) by a head on Saturday afternoon at Wyoming Downs.

Under jockey Nakia Ramirez, Fantastic Minion wouldn't be denied as he completed the 300 yards in :15.423 seconds, equaling a 98 speed index into a 5 mph headwind. It was the sixth career win for the son of Fantastic Corona Jr and the $6,210 winners' purse boosted his bankroll to over $73,190.

Jay Pitcher conditions the 4-yeaer-old Utah bred gelding for owners Kirk Woolf and Ralph Hartline. Woolf bred the buckskin from the Dash To Chivato mare Gigarad. As a 2-year-old, Fantastic Minion won the Western State Breeders' Derby at Sweetwater Downs.

Multiple stakes winner Acadillac races for owner-breeder Jerry D. Chapman. Josh Taylor saddled the Texas bred son of Azoom out of Louisiana Cadillac by Jess Louisiana Blue. The five-time winner ridden by Elliot Bachicha, Jr. has earned over $30,300.

Dash N The Wind, a 6-year-old son of Furyofthewind, was a half-length back and earned $1,035 for third. Glade W. Van Tassell trains the Utah-bred gelding for owner Melody Olsen. F. Bert Lamb bred the stakes winner from the Mr Eye Opener mare Eyes Flashy.

Ccb First Flyin Fool, Tdm Big Shooter, Jesspurr, Mick Lovin, Buckshot and Giorgina completed the field.
