AJAX, ONT—SEPTEMBER 16, 2019—Ontario Bred Futurity winner Easy Street romped to a 1-¾ length win in the second of two trials to set the fastest qualifying time for the Alex Picov Memorial Futurity at Ajax Downs. The Mighty B Valiant gelding posted a :20.380 clocking with a 15 mph tailwind to get the top mark.
The 10 fastest qualifiers will return to Ajax Downs on Monday, October 7th to vie for the winner's share of a $50,000-added purse.
Ridden by jockey Tony Phillips, Easy Street races for owner's Carol and Jaime Robertson. Bryn Robertson conditions the 2-year-old who earned nearly $30,000 in three starts this year. He broke his maiden in June, then returned July 14th to win the $45,513(US) Ontario Bred Futurity by two-lengths.
Rowdy And Bodacious scored his second career win in the opening trial to get the second fastest qualifying time of :20.660 seconds. Cassandra Jeschke had the riding assignment aboard the Ontario-bred son of Bodacious Jess for trainer Scott Reid.
A home bred racing for Ivy Lane Racing, Rowdy And Bodacious is out of the Dean Miracle mare Make Us A Miracle. Fourth in the Ontario Sires Stakes Futurity two races back, Rowdy And Bodacious has earned $18,092 in six starts.
