POCATELLO, ID—SEPTEMBER 22, 2019—Pocatello closed out the 2019 season with several stakes, including the $13,500 Van Adams Memorial Maturity (not black-type). Giorgina, with Jesus Valenzuela, pulled off a mild upset in the 300-yard event.

The final time for the race was 15.424. The winner earned a 104 speed index; each of the top three finishers earned a triple digit speed index.

Giorgina ($16.60) is trained by Adrian Zavala for owner and breeders Miguel Zavala Lopez. The 5-year-old mare was bred in Utah, by Giorgino and out of Miss Flying Jessie, by Fly Jess Fly.

Giorgina has won eight of her 19 lifetime starts and has over $30,000 in career earnings.

Post-time favorite Jt Easy Bug and Dallas Erickson were defeated by a neck in the close finish. Glen Jamison trains, owns and bred the gelding in Idaho with Jill Jamison, by Jess Got Easier and out of Miss Perry Bug, by Dashing Jess Perry.

The 4-year-old gelding is a multiple stakes winner and was in search of his fourth consecutive win in Sunday’s maturity. He has won ten of his 22 lifetime starts with over $42,000 in career earnings to date.

Multiple stakes winner Vvr Dazzling Corona was third with Jesus Virgen aboard for trainer Skyler Greene.

The 5-year-old mare is owned by Casey Lipp and was bred by Mike Lipp in Wyoming, by Coronas Velvet and out of the Dash to Chivato mare Dazzling Chivata. She won Wyoming-bred derbies at Wyoming Downs and Energy Downs in 2017 and picked up four more wins in eight starts as a 4-year-old.

Completing the field were Wagonfullofdividends, Royallittlewagon, Jb Corona Heart and Vvr Im Special Now.
