Yanque Looking For Another 550 Score In Sunday’s Paul Ford

LOS ALAMITOS, CA—NOVEMBER 28, 2019—Martha Wells' Yanque will go after his second stakes win of the year at 550 yards when he faces a compact field led by 870-yard star Run Raging Rhino Run and newcomer CM Once Ina Bluemoon in the $15,000 Paul Ford Memorial Handicap on Sunday at Los Alamitos.

Trained by Matt Fales, Yanque delivered in a big way in the Scott Lewis Handicap on November 8, as he broke on top and cruised to an easy 1–˝ length win at this distance. The Favorite Cartel gelding had always shown a big closing kick and figured to be a start at 550 yards.

In his first attempt at this distance, Yanque ran third back in March, but the Scott Lewis was all his, as he lived up to his 3-5 odds in a strong :26.80 clocking. A Champion of Champions finalist in 2018, Yanque will go after his seventh career win on Sunday night.

Dan Wilson's Run Raging Rhino Run won the Barbra B Handicap at 550 yards back in January and also won the Wheatland Handicap at 870 yards in April. He's finished out of the money in his last two outings, but his vast experience in distance races will make him a tough contender.

Chris Sutton's CM Once Ina Bluemoon has won four of six starts in 2019 and now makes his local debut.

Yanque's stablemate, Chicks Fayvorite, and A Mere Icon will complete the field.
