HOBBS, NM—DECEMBER 1, 2019—Cat Daddys Lil Girl, a solid stakes performer throughout her career, scored her first stakes victory on Sunday when she defeated Hollywoodcrown by a neck in the restricted Grade 1 $145,000 New Mexico Quarter Horse Fillies and Mares Championship at Zia Park.
With a strong rally under jockey Mauro Salcedo, Cat Daddys Lil Girl completed the 400 yards in :19.747 seconds, equaling a 93 speed index. It was the fifth career win in 12 starts for the 3-year-old daughter of leading New Mexico sire Big Daddy Cartel. Cynthia Gonzalez is the trainer.
Racing for owner-breeders Jimmy Negrete and Jimmy Vazquez, Cat Daddys Lil Girl earned $87,000 to bring her bankroll to $245,062. The New Mexico homebred is out of Girlonthego by Man On The Move.
Multiple graded-placed Holywoodcrown earned $29,000 for her runner-up effort. The 4-year-old daughter of champion sire Heza Motor Scooter flew-late under jockey Jose Alvarez to finish second. Owned-bred and trained by Fred Danley, HollywoodCrown has eraned $244,773. She is out of the thoroughbred mare Hollywood Gone, by Gone Hollywood.
Jacob Simmons III's Chicks Baby Suds finished half-a-length back to earn $14,500 for third. Also trained by Cynthia Gonzalez, Chicks Baby Suds is a restricted graded winning daughter of Jess A Chicks from the Corona Caliente mare Hot Babe Indy Suds. She has won four of eight starts and earned $84,978. Mike Abraham is the breeder and Jaime Leos had the riding call.
First N Forever, Woodys Copy Cat, Toflashyforyou, Jess Fire Chick, Regard The Rose and Sister Sophia completed the field.
