Dalts Fancy Pistol Breaks FL Lady Bug Stakes Record on Memorial Day at Remington Park

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK—MAY 25, 2020—Dalts Fancy Pistol basically said, "anything you can do, I can do, too," in winning the Restricted Grade 3, $50,000 FL Lady Bug Stakes with a record stakes time Monday night.

DF Lord Garvan had just broken the stakes record in the Boyd Morris Memorial Stakes the race before, for older Oklahoma-breds. Dalts Fancy Pistol followed up with a similar performance in the final race of the night, for Oklahoma-bred 2-year-olds.

Her time of 16.523 seconds for 330 yards beat the old record set by SS Calendar Girl in 2012 of 16.571. Dalts Fancy Pistol's time was good for a speed index of 99 over the sloppy surface, caused by sometimes heave rain throughout the Memorial Day program.

Jockey Rolando Raudales pushed the button on this 2-year-old filly right out of the gate, in second, and quickly took over down the stretch to pull away by a half-length at 9-5 odds. The betting favorite at 3-2 odds, Gael Force, finished second, another half-length ahead of Bran Nu Dae (18-1) in third, the longest shot on the board in the field of seven.

Dalts Fancy Pistol won for the third time in four tries, but won her first stakes race in the process. This daughter of Im a Fancy PYC, out of the Mr Eye Opener mare Dalts Pistol, had won her Remington Park Futurity trial on April 4, but could only manage a seventh-place finish in the finals. She got back on track Monday for trainer Guillermo Valdivia and owners Larry Thompson and Don A. Anthony of Oklahoma City.

She paid $5.80, $2.80 and $2.20 to win, place and show and won $28,800 from the purse to bump her winnings after four starts to $87,100. She was bred in Oklahoma by her owners. It was the first win for all the connections of the winning filly in the FL Lady Bug Stakes.

Gael Force, also a 2-year-old by Im A Fancy Pyc, boosted his earnings mark to $98,361 after picking up $9,600 for finishing second. Rex Brooks conditions the brown colt for owner Circle T Ranch. Still a maiden, Gael Force was fourth in the Remington Park Oklahoma-Bred Futurity(RG1) in his last start. He has compiled a (4) 0-3-0 record this season. Doug Ruby is the breeder.

Bran Nu Dae, who broke her maiden for a $20,000-tag on March 19th, earned her black-type tonight with a third-place effort in the Fl Lady Bug Stakes. Eddie D. Willis conditions the daughter of multiple stakes sire Freighttrain B for owner-breeder Alona James. Justine Klaiber had the riding call aboard the bay filly from the Streak And Dash mare The Dashing Attitude. She earned $5,280 to bring her earnings mark to $19,304 from four starts this year.

I Like Me Better was fourth. Cr Tale and Shaking The Moon finished in a dead-heat for fifth with Boots N Gems completing the field.
