Fastest Qualifier Legends On Fire Returns to Win $62,175 Cherry Creek Futurity at Arapahoe

AURORA, CO—AUGUST 5, 2020—The fastest qualifier from four trials on July 19, Legends On Fire returned Wednesday afternoon to win the $62,175 Cherry Creek Futurity for Colorado-breds at Arapahoe.

Legends On Fire ($2.80) and Jose Mesa were impressive in the final; the duo broke on top and led to the wire, extending the margin of victory to a length over Jess Golondrina in second place.

The final time for the 330-yard stakes race was :17.091 with a speed index of 92.

Trained by Uriel Delgado, Legends On Fire is a Colorado homebred for Margarito Montalvo, by The Noble Legend and out of the Walk Thru Fire mare My Sweet Fire.

Legends On Fire has won his last three starts and is undefeated at Arapahoe. He debuted and finished fourth in a trail at Remington in March before breaking his maiden in Colorado. After his win in the Cherry Creek, he has earnings of $31,454.

Jess Golondrina and Manuel Meza finished a length behind the winner in second place. The filly is trained by Hugo Ontiveros and is owned by Edy Arturo Ontiveros-Palacios.

Jess Golondrina won her trial easily as the sixth fastest qualifier, breaking her maiden in the process. The daughter of Jess Cuervo was bred by Kathy Hayes out of Bp First Down Policy, by First Down Dash.

Kiddys Lightnin Gold and Jhaciel Soto finished in third place for trainer Roberto Gomez.

Kiddys Lightnin Gold was the fifth fastest qualifier to the final; she was third in her trial behind Legends On Fire and second fastest qualifier Flirt With A Hottie. The trial was her second career start; she broke her maiden in her debut in a maiden race at Arapahoe in June.

Kiddys Lightnin Gold is owned and bred by Enrique Jesus Hernandez, by Kiddy Up and out of Heebie Jeebie, by Celeb.

Completing the field were Dance Down Diva Vc, Flirt With A Hottie, Dg Forever Sweet, Finally Excited, Golden Hawk, Behavin Good and Rich and Sassy. Twos Two scratched.
