EDMONTON, ALB—AUGUST 7, 2020—Alberta homebred Spicy Chile defeated Ulnvme To by a three-quarters Friday night to win the $31,900(US) Alberta Stallion Stake Futurity at Century Mile.
Under jockey Blandford Stewart, Spicy Chile completed the 300 yards over a muddy race track in :16.051 seconds into a 15 mph tailwind. The daughter of Cowboy 109 collected $14,355(US) for the victory.
Trainer Buckey Stockwell saddled Spicy Chile to his second win in as many starts for owner-breeder Bob McCutcheon. Bred from the Mighty Invictus mare Miss Invitus Eh, Spicy Chile entered the finals with the third fastest time after breaking his maiden in the July 24th trials.
Ulnvme To, a son of leading Canadian sire First Timber, earned $5,422(US) for his second-place effort.

Second fastest-qualifier Jess Be First finished three-quarters back to earn $3,190(US). Trained-and-bred by Wesley Oulton, Jess Be First races for owners Ralph Wiber and Dwaine Ferguson. The chestnut gelding by First Timber is out of the Streakin La Jolla mare Ima Jess A Streaker.
He Flys Bye, Flyin Feelin, Northforkhigh, Jagnestimber, Melody Moonshine and Bigtime Knockout.
