PHOENIX, AZ—JANUARY 15, 2020—Graded stakes-placed Hs Paul Walker defeated Senor Frogs by half-a-length Friday afternoon in the $12,500 Wayne Brasher Memorial Stakes Division 2 (not black type) at Turf Paradise.

Hs Paul Walker drifted in under jockey Christian Ramos while completing the 250 yards in :13.253 seconds, equaling a 103-speed index. It was the fifth win in 18 career starts for the 5-year-old son of Osbaldo.

Owned-and-trained by Ivan Tafoya, Hs Paul Walker is a New Mexico-bred from the Strawflyin Buds mare Strawberryberryfast. Second in the New Mexico Classic Futurity(RG2) at 2, the $7,363 Wayne Brasher winners' purse boosted the gray geldings earnings to $120,233. Hubaldo Solis is the breeder.

Post-time favorite Senor Frogs fought gamely to finish second and earn $2,375. Eloy Navarro trains the multiple stakes winning son of 2020's leading third-crop sire Coronado Cartel for owner Jose Aguilar Mendoza. Michael and Shannon McKay bred the bay gelding in Oregon from the Mr Eye Opener mare Nellie Soprano. Hector Aldrete had the riding call aboard the $78,833 earner.

Multiple stakes winner First Lady Perry finished half-a-length back under jockey Mark Jasso to earn $1,188 for third. Trainer John Allred conditions the daughter of leading sire Mr Jess Perry for owner Scott McDaniel. Bred in Utah by McColee Land & Livestock LLC, from the Heza Fast Man mare First Lady Amber, First Lady Perry has earned $66,246.

Aint My Fault, Saginaw Trail, Jess Find Me, Ms Patty Cake, Jess Zoomin Senator, Aubreys Last Ren and Perry Regard completed the field.
