Getit Hot Recovers Start to Win Old Timer's Classic at Century Mile

EDMONTON, ALB—JUNE 4, 2021—Posttime favorite Getit Hot picked up right where she left off last Fall with a win at Century Mile Racetrack tonight (Friday). Her final race of the 2020 season was an allowance victory at Century Mile.

Getit Hot stumbled at the start in her 5-year-old debut under jockey Ricardo Moreno, then gained quickly to overtake the field and finish a half-length ahead of Honor The Fast in the $11,676(US) Old Timer's Classic (not black type). She completed the 300 yards in :16.948 seconds to equal a 91 speed index with a 20 mph crosswind.

Trainer William Leech conditions the 5-year-old mare for owner Charles Stojan. Bred in California by Martha Wells, from the Separatist mare Getit Together, Getit Hot has compiled a (15) 8-0-5 record and the $6,084(US) Classic winner's purse boosted her career mark to $71,589.

Runner-up Honor The Fast Man earned $2,984(US) for owner-trainer and breeder Tom Kenway. Martin Ortiz rode the 7-year-old Honor The Perry gelding out of Buckle High by Heza Fast Man. Winner of the Canada Quarter Horse Cup Derby at 3, Honor The Fast Man has banked nearly $85,000 where he has won or placed in 17 of 23 career starts.

Leech and Stojan teamed again with Getit Foose, a 4-year-old son of Foose, who finished third, a nose off Honor The Fast Man. Corrine Andros had the riding call to pick up $1,377(US) for the effort. Also bred in California by Martha Wells, Getit Foose is a half-brother to winner Getit Hot.

Getit Foose was second in the Canada Cup QH Derby at Century Mile in his last start October 25, 2020. With three wins in 13 starts he has earned $23,094. Wells was named AQHA Racing's Champion Owner in 2020.

Completing the Old Timer's Classic field were Light Footed, Stripsteak, Halos Sign and Streakin Timber.
