Honor The Fast Man Wins Alberta Bred Maturity

Honor The Fast Man Wins Alberta Bred Maturity

EDMONTON, ALB—SEPTEMBER 11, 2021—Honor The Fast Man defeated stablemate and posttime favorite Double Cruise by half-a-length Saturday in the $11,141(US) (not black type) Alberta Bred Maturity at Century Mile Racetrack.

Under jockey Silvino Morales Honor The Fast Man completed the 350 yards in :17.895 seconds, equaling an 86 speed index into a 20 mph crosswind. It was the first win of the year and ninth career win for the son of Honor The Perry.

Bred-owned and trained by Tom Kenway, the 7-year-old gelding has compiled a (28) 9-10-3 record and today's winner's purse valued at $5,804(US) increased his earnings to $92,702. Winner of the Alberta-Bred Derby and the Grande Prairie 440 Stakes, Honor The Fast Man is out of the Heza Fast Man mare Buckle High.

Double Cruise got out well under jockey Martin Ortiz but settled for second, earning $2,847(US). Also a homebred for Kenway, the multiple stakes winning 4-year-old is by Bd Cruiser from the Eye Take Time mare Eye Cruise. A Canada Cup QH Derby and Alberta Bred Derby winner last year, Double Cruise has earned $65,470.

Thomas Pick's Rj Fly Bye finished 1-˝ lengths back to earn $1,314(US) for third. Trainer Lionel Joseph named D.I. Benitez to ride the 4-year-old Special Fly Bye gelding out of Rj Bitterroot Babe by El Mistral. Bred by T. Copithorne and G. Wills, Rj Fly Bye has earned $9,958.

Ss Frost, Ima Running First, Sasses Loki and Quarter Sawn completed the field.
