Interes Fino Fastest In Canada Cup Quarter Futurity Trials

EDMONTON, ALB—OCTOBER 8, 2021—Coming off a second place effort in the John Deere Grand Prairie Juvenile Challenge in his last start, Interes Fino rolled to a 1-¾ length win in the opening trial of the Canada Cup Quarter Horse Futurity(G3) trials Friday night at Century Mile Racetrack.

The 10 fastest qualifiers, from two trial races contested, will return to Century Mile Racetrack on Saturday, October 23rd to vie for the winner's share of an $85,761(CAN) purse going 400 yards.

Under jockey Ricardo Moreno, Interes Fino drew clear of the field while stopping the timer in :20.842 seconds, into a 15 mph crosswind, setting the fastest qualifying time.

With two wins in five starts, the California-bred gelding has banked $15,206 this year. Elena Andrade bred Interes Fino from the Corona Cartel mare Corona Mas Fina. He is an $18,000 graduate of the Los Alamitos Equine Sale.

Wave Burner bumped at the start under jockey Silvino Morales but held sway in the second trial to win by half-length while posting the second fastest time of :21.190 seconds into a 15 mph tailwind. The race was hand timed.

Third in the Alberta Bred Futurity(RG3) in his last start, Wave Burner races for owner Jeffery Rath and is conditioned by Wesley Oulton. The Alberta-bred son of Wave Carver from the First Timber mare First Prize Sass has banked $12,870 in seven starts this year.

Also bred by Oulton, Wave Burner broke his maiden in the trials.
