Fastest Qualifier Tell Foose Runs Win Streak To Three Following Autumn QH Derby Victory

GRANTS PASS, OR—OCTOBER 11, 2021—Fastest qualifier Tell Foose continued his win streak at Grants Pass Downs on Monday evening with a neck win over stablemate Lionized in the $35,000 Autumn QH Derby.

Under jockey Martin Osuna Tell Foose raced over the 400 yards in :19.923 seconds, equaling a 97 speed index. It was the third consecutive win at the Oregon racetrack for the son of champion and multiple Grade 1 sire Foose.

Hector Magallanes trains the California-bred gelding for owner Ruben Magallanes. Bred by Martha Wells, from the Chicks Beduino mare Chicks Tell, Tell Foose has compiled a (12) 4-3-1 record and the $14,000 winner's purse doubled the 3-year-old's earnings to nearly $30,000.

Tell Foose is a half-brother to nine black type including two-time AQHA Racing Champion Tell Cartel ($796,386) and multiple stakes winner Forrest Fire SI 102 ($335,306). His breeder Martha Wells was named the AQHA Champion Owner in 2020.

Runner-up Lionized, who broke his maiden at Grants Pass in May, earned $5,950 for finishing second. Also trained by Magallanes, the Washington homebred son of multiple stakes sire Bodacious Dash races for owner-breeders Mike and Sherry Reardon. Alex Anaya had the riding call aboard the bay gelding out of Flyin Lion by Panther Mountain. He has banked $12,812 off a (7) 2-2-0 record.

Dahock finished a nose back in third to earn $3,850 for owner-breeder Malon Cowgill. Benito Curiel trains the Zoomin For Bux gelding out of Lanty Bug by Blushing Bug. Luis Gonzalez had the riding call on the $16,875 earner. Two races back Dohock was fourth in the Adequan Grants Pass Derby Challenge.

Not Another Lover, Super Bowl Sunny Day, Half Interest, The Streakin Queen and One Sweet Lippy completed the field. Jess Ozzy and Skyywalker were both scratched.
