Q-RACING JOURNAL—FEBRUARY 26, 2015—Stakes winner and sire Reckless Dash died today (Feb 26).

The 28-year-old stallion was bred by American Quarter Horse Hall of Fame member Joe Kirk Fulton and was owned through his lifetime by Fulton and his Fulton Quien Sabe Ranch.

Reckless Dash raced from 1989 to 1991, making 24 starts. He won 11 of those, with five seconds and one third. He earned $315,229 during his racing career. His career highlights include victories in the 1990 Remington Park Derby (G2), 1991 Jet Deck Handicap (G3) and Longhorn Derby, as well as second-place finishes in the Grade 1 QHBC Juvenile Classic and World’s Championship Classic.

He was fourth in Strawberry Silk’s All American Futurity (G1), and finalist in the Grade 1 Kindergarten Futurity, All American Derby, All American Gold Cup and Champion of Champions.

Sired by the great Dash For Cash, Reckless Dash was out of the Raise Your Glass (TB) mare Shaken Not Stirred. He was the sire of 527 foals, including 312 starters and 164 race winners. His foals earned more than $3 million on the racetrack, including Grade 2 winner Reckless Roula ($307,167).

Reckless Dash was pensioned from stud duty in 2012.

“Today is a sad day at as we say goodbye to another family member,” Fulton Quien Sabe Ranch posted on Facebook. “He was a great race horse, stallion and a wonderful friend. We are grateful for everything he did for our family and ranch. He will be forever missed.”
