First crop sire Capo de Capi got his first stakes winner on Saturday when The Serge Protector won the Oklahoma Juvenile Invitational at Remington Park.

First Crop Sire Capo de Capi Gets First Stakes Winner

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK—MARCH 21, 2015—First crop sire Capo de Capi got his first stakes winner Saturday when The Serge Protector won the $50,000 Oklahoma Juvenile Invitational at Remington Park.

A homebred for Penny Zynda, The Serge Protector is now 2-for-2 and the $29,730 Juvenile winner's purse pushed his earnings mark to $35,514. Trained by Eddie D. Willis and ridden by Jimmy D. Brooks, The Surge Protector is out of Directors Cut, by Walk Thru Fire.

Capo de Capi was the leading First Crop Sire in the nation last week. From nine starters he has sired three winners, 1 stakes winner and earnings of more than $60,000.

Owned by James Sills, Capo do Capi is Grade 2 winning son of leading living sire of money earenrs Corona Cartel who won or placed in nine of 13 career starts while earning $244,647. He won the Heritage Place Derby(G2), Speedhorse Gold & Silver Cup Derby(RG3), was second in the Oklahoma Derby and was a finalist in the Grade 1 Remington Park Futurity.
