GUTHRIE, TX—NOVEMBER 11, 2015—With the recent sale of Vessels Stallion Farm in California, syndicate management of all-time leading sire First Down Dash will be transferred to Dr. Glen Bodgett of Burnett Ranches (6666 Ranch) on Sunday, November 15.
Blodgett has served as syndicate managers of such stallions as Mr Jess Perry, One Famous Eagle, Ocean Runway, Stoli, etc.
Bred in Texas by A.F. Stanley Jr. and B.F. Phillips Jr., First Down Dash won 13 of 15 starts and $857,256 in 1986 and 1987 for the Vessels family. He was named the 1987 World Champion, and stood his entire stallion career at the Vessels Stallion Farm in Bonsall, California until his death in 2010.
First Down Dash was by Dash For Cash out of First Prize Rose, by Gallant Jet. Dash For Cash was Quarter Horse racing’s all-time leading stallion until surpassed by First Down Dash.
First Down Dash has sired 1352 winners(70%), 248 stakes winners(13%), 245 stakes-placed(13%), 4 world champions, 36 champions, earners of $84.5 million and average earnings per starter of nearly $44,000 per head.
Frozen semen to the deceased stallion for 2016 will be available from 6666 Ranch (806.596.4424) in Guthrie, Texas and Burns Ranch (951.301.0201) in Menifee, California.
