LOS ALAMITOS, CA—JANUARY 31, 2016—Fire At Will has shown great promise since coming onto the scene in April of 2015, having won four of his first 10 career starts, including qualifying for three futurities at Los Alamitos, as well as the Grade 1, $215,250 Los Alamitos Winter Derby.

The 3-year old gelding is owned by Rosenthal Ranch LLC of Winchester, California, which is operated by the husband and wife duo of Robert and Connie Rosenthal.

Both Robert and Connie are Southern California natives and Robert’s interest in horse racing developed in the days of his youth, being the son of avid track goers. The Rosenthals have been ranch owners since 1990 when they bought an existing ranch in Hemet, California.

However, due to a reservoir being built nearby, in the year 2000, they relocated to their current 40-acre property in Winchester where they devoted their time and resources to building a whole new ranch from scratch. Rosenthal Ranch is home to approximately 30 horses and they breed two-to-three mares a year while always remaining loyal to all the horses that they breed by keeping them for as long as they can.p> Rosenthal Ranch came to own Fire At Will, bred by Dr. Edward Allred, as they sought horses that were sired by Favorite Cartel, a horse that they had long admired.

With the guidance of trainer Christopher O’Dell, Rosenthal Ranch purchased a select three from Favorite Cartel’s bloodline and the middle-priced of the trio, Fire at Will, has blossomed into a gem for Rosenthal Ranch.

From a racing standpoint, Fire at Will has surely been the most successful Rosenthal Ranch product, and Robert indicates, “Fire at Will has turned into such a professional horse.”

Though Fire at Will has had the most success for Rosenthal Ranch, Robert explains that they also have special places in their hearts for Blue X – a stakes horse that was their first owned mare – and Gridiron Legend – a colt that never raced for them, but was a breeding stud. However, the development of Fire at Will is also surely making it difficult for Robert and Connie to keep their emotions of joy holstered as Robert indicates that it is a “very exciting time” for them.
