Pedigree Analysis Beach Cartel: Enjoying The Sun At The Indiana Beach

Q-RACING JOURNAL—JUNE 1, 2016—t was another day at the beach for Sheri Miller of Shipshewana, Indiana, on Saturday, as she watched her homebred Beach Cartel win the $75,000 Born Runner Classic at Indiana Grand. The race is restricted to Indiana-breds, 4-year-olds and older, sired by registered Indiana stallions. It is named in honor of the 1978 Rocket Wrangler stallion and popular Indiana sire owned by C.W. Mullenix.

Beach Cartel is a 4-year-old gelding by Escondido Beach out of the First To Flash mare Flashin Dee Dee. This win marks his seventh win in eight starts, and his third stakes win. He has earned $219,483 to date.

Escondido Beach is an 11-year-old son of Corona Cartel out of the blue hen Streakin Six mare Six On The Beach. Bred by American Quarter Horse Hall of Fame inductee Bobby Cox, and now co-owned by Miller, the stallion was a stakes-placed runner. From four crops to race, he has sired the earners of more than $1.2 million, an average of $26,449 per starter. Notably, five of the 10 starters in the Born Runner were by Escondido Beach.

The stallion is a half brother to Babe On The Fly ($246,111), Babe On The Beach ($193,302), Six Little Injuns ($121,500) and Precisionist RM ($114,137), as well as producer Heidi Hadif, dam of Grade 1 winner Eye Caughtcha Peekin ($201,942).
