VILLE PLATTE, LA—AUGUST 21, 2016—First crop sire and Grade 2 winner Triple Vodka SI 101 sired his first stakes winner on Sunday when Vodka At Moonlight won the $49,300 Minnesota Quarter Horse Futurity.
Under jockey Nic Goodwin Vodka At Moonlight got away well and outlasted stablemate Pyc Jess Bit Mydust to win the Minnesota Quarter Horse Futurity Sunday afternoon at Canterbury Park.
Conditioned by Jason Olmstead, the Summer Run, Inc. homebred completed the 350 yards in :18.008 seconds into a 12 mph headwind to pocket the winner's purse of $24,650. Second in the Minnesota Stallion Breeders' Futurity last month, Vodka At Moonlight has now won three of four starts and earned $48,060. She is out of the Oak Tree Special mare Moonlight Masquerade.
Owend by Rene Spiller, the son of leading sire Tres Seis won or placed in seven of eight career starts while earning $224,670. He won the TQHA Sale Futurity(RG2), Old South Derby and was finalist in the Firecracker Derby.
Triple Vodka is from the multiple stakes producing Stoli mare Newport Lily, dam of three winners including Triple Vodka (stakes winner above), Hiclass Vodka SI 106 (3 wins, $218,680, Speedhorse Futurity-G2, etc.), Black Jack Corona Up ($14,980), etc. The second dam is the Grade 2 Las Damas winner Newport Fancy SI 95 ($68,851), by Calyx.
