Champion Brace For Bernal Arrives In Louisiana

VINTON, LA—NOVEMBER 21, 2016—AQHA Racing Champion Brace For Bernal SI 105 arrived at Delta Equine Center in Vinton, Louisiana earlier this week, where he will stand in 2017. His fee has been set at $1,500, with consideration.

The Grade 2 winner's first crop will race in 2017.

Bred by Joaquin Lopez and owned by Noel Lopez Prieto of Canadian, Texas, Brace For Bernal was named the 2013 AQHA Racing Champion 3-Year-Old Colt. He won nine of 15 career starts, with two seconds and earnings of $322,326.

Brace For Bernal won the Heritage Place Derby(G2), Remington Park Oklahoma-Bred Derby, John Deere Will Rogers Juvenile Challenge and Bill Hedge Memorial Stakes. He was second in the John Deere Juvenile Challenge Championship (G2), and Cherokee Nation Stakes.

As a 3-year-old he went undefeated in six starts at Remington Park and Ruidoso Downs. He suffered a career ending injury after winning his final start, a trial for the 2013 All American Derby(G1).

Brace For Bernal is sired by the multiple stakes sire Furyofthewind, a son of leading living sire Corona Cartel out of champion and dam of distinction Dashing Phoebe. From seven crops to race, he has sired 142 winners, 20 stakes winners (13%), with earnings of more than $5.7 million and average earnings per starter of more than $24,000. His top performers include Golden State Million Futurity(G1) winner Turbulent Times SI 94 ($564,146), etc.

Brace For Bernal is the only foal out of the Shazoom mare Zoom Bracer, who won or placed in 15 of 22 starts and earned $53,953. The fourth dam is a stakes winning and stakes producing thoroughbred mare Woodland Hills, by Woodland Pines.
