LOS ALAMITOS, CA—APRIL 14, 2014—Overnight purses for races featuring 3-year-olds and upward Quarter Horse have been increased by $1,000 across the board effective with the racing program at Los Alamitos Race Course on Friday, April 18.

Quarter Horses of ages 3 and up racing in the $10,000 claiming level will now compete for a purse of $12,430 based on a 10-horse field at 350 yards or more. Those in the $5,000 claiming level will now race for a $10,185 purse based on a 10-horse field at distance of 350 yards or more. A conditioned allowance race at 350-yards will now feature a purse of $15,200 for a 10-horse field.

"We appreciate the hard work of our horsemen in helping Los Alamitos put together as competitive a racing program as possible," said Los Alamitos Racing Secretary Ron Church said. "We strongly feel that it's very important to show our appreciation for our great Quarter Horse owners and trainers. We're looking forward to an exciting spring and summer season of highly competitive Quarter Horse racing."

No Quarter Horse race for 3-year-olds and upward - at any level - would feature a purse of less than $6,000 for a 6-horse field. This means that a field of six maiden $2,500 claimers will race for $6,000. All Quarter Horse starters in overnight races earn a minimum of $300. The complete list of new purses is listed below.
