CLAREMORE, OK—SEPTEMBER 17, 2014—Effective with entries today (September 17) for races running on Saturday September 20th the overnight purse levels for Quarter Horses will be increased by $1,000 per race at Will Rogers Downs. The stakes races and trial purses will remain unchanged.

"Prior to the start of the meet there was a concern about the amount of revenue from gaming at Will Rogers that was going to be available for purses during this meet, however with some new gaming software and other recent changes at Will Rogers Downs the revenue stream has increased to the point we believe we are safe to increase the purses effective immediately," Debbie Schauf, Executive Director of the OQHRA said today.

There will be no change in the purses for Paints and Appaloosa's.

The live meet has only been underway for five days and already the track has seen great participation by the racing fans in the area and we are looking forward to a really good meet this fall.

OQHRA is sponsoring an extreme race day at the track on October 4th and there will be Pig Racing and Zebra Racing for the crowd to enjoy during the live races that afternoon.
