Big Gains Mark Heritage Place September Sale's Second Day, Led By $200,000 High Seller

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK—SEPTEMBER 19, 2014—Day 2 of the Heritage Place September Yearling Sale continued the robust market seen on the opening day, posting huge across-the-board gains on Friday. Suthern Impact, a Valiant Hero colt, was the top seller at $200,000 after two sessions.

Two sessions saw 466 yearlings sold for $7,458,500, an 18% increase over last year's total for the nearly the same number of horses. The session average of $16,005 was up 19% over last year's sale average and the median at $10,000 also saw a 19% increase compared to $8,400 in 2013.

"The market was strong again today," Spence Kidney Heritage Place General Manger said Friday evening. "We have sold 89% of the horses offered in the first two sessions. We are encouraged by the demand for good quality yearlings and we another great book of horses to offer tomorrow," he added.

Five yearlings have sold for $100,000 or more in the first two sessions.

The two-day session topper was Hip 471 Suthern Impact, a Valiant Hero colt who brought a final bid of $200,000 from Toby Keeton, Agent. Steve Holt, Agent consigned the half-brother to stakes winners Photo Smart, Pantherinthefastlane and RG1-placed Hang On And Hush Up. Out of the Takin On The Cash mare Sheza Neon Rose, Suthern Impact a full brother in-blood to Grade 1 winner Houdini.

Gold Buckle Enterprises purchased the second high seller Eyes Blue Bayou, a Jess Louisiana Blue colt, from Sunflower Supply Co. for $155,000. The gray colt is out of RG2 Speedhorse Futurity winner and multiple stakes producer Miss Racy Eyes, Mr Eye Opener.

Joe Allen purchased JA Jess Cuz, a Mr Jess Perry colt from Marty Powers Agent for 2L Racing and Joe Allen for $150,000. The sorrel colt is half-brother to five stakes horses including Heritage Place Derby(G2) winner Cuz Eye Said and Oklahoma Horsemen's Assoc. Futurity winner First Down Gol To Go, etc.

Rachuan Suarez MVZ is the sale's two-day leading buyer with 20 purchases totaling $228,800. Terry Stennett made three buys for $215,000 and Toby Keeton, Agent had the one purchase for $200,000.

Bobby D. Cox is the leading consignor and/or agent through two sessions with 16 head for $323,200. Lazy E Ranch, LLC, Agent sold 16 head for $271,100 and 6666 Ranch, Agent had 11 head for $257,500.

Corona Cartel is leading yearling sire (by average with two or more sold) through two sessions with eight head for $55,250. Mr Jess Perry has 10 yearlings averaging $47,600 and leading second crop sire Tempting Dash has six yearlings sale for a $45,333 average.
