OKLAHOMA CITY, OK—SEPTEMBER 20, 2014—The 36th edition of the September Heritage Place Yearling Sale closed Saturday with double-digit gains across-the-board.

Final session numbers ended with a 23% gain over last year with gross receipts totally $10,945,200 on 679 head sold compared to $8,890,500 on 659 head in 2013. The overall sale average enjoyed a strong 19% bump to $16,120 compared to $13,491 last year. The $10,000 median this year was also 19% increase over last year's median price of $8,400.

"The market proved to be strong again today," Heritage Place General Manger Spence Kidney said late Saturday. "Today’s average on horses sold was up 35% over the final day of last year’s sale."

Kidney noted that 87% of the horses offered this year were sold.

"Heritage Place would like to thank all of the consignors and buyers for making this a great event and wish everyone much success with their purchases," he added.

Eight yearlings sold for $100,000 or more. The three-day sale topper was Hip 471 Suthern Impact, a Valiant Hero colt who brought a final bid of $200,000 from Toby Keeton, Agent in Friday's second session. Steve Holt, Agent consigned the half-brother to stakes winners Photo Smart, Pantherinthefastlane and RG1-placed Hang On And Hush Up. Out of the Takin On The Cash mare Sheza Neon Rose, Suthern Impact a full brother in-blood to Grade 1 winner Houdini.

Gold Buckle Enterprises also purchased the second high seller, Eyes Blue Bayou a Jess Louisiana Blue colt, from Sunflower Supply Co. in Friday's session. The $155,000 yearling is out Miss Racy Eyes, winner of the Speedhorse Futurity(RG2) and a multiple stakes producer. She is a daughter of leading broodmare sire Mr Eye Opener.

Lazy E Ranch, LLC, Agent for Speed, LLC sold the third high seller, Hip 592 Lady Perry On Fire, during Saturday's closing session. McColee Land & Livestock paid $145,000 for the Walk Thru Fire filly out of multiple stakes winner and stakes producer Jess Sass Me, by Mr Jess Perry.

Ramon R. Vega was the sale's leading buyer with 22 purchases totaling $307,400. Gold Buckle Interprises (Greg/Kyle Hause) bought six yearlings for $272,000 and Terry D. Stinnett paid $255,000 for four head.

Bobby D. Cox was the sale's leading consignor with 26 yearlings grossing $540,900. Sunflower Supply Co. had 11 head for $504,400, Burns Ranch sold 15 for $402,200 and Lazy E Ranch, LLC, Agent had 24 yearlings total $356,900.

Corona Cartel lead all sale sires (by average with two or more sold) with 10 yearlings averaging $48,600. Walk Thru Fire had nine for $43,056 and leading second crop sire Tempting Dash had 11 head average $37,636.

Champion American Runaway was the leading first-crop sale sire (by average with two or more sold) with five yearlings averaging $29,800. Favorite Cartel saw 15 yearlings average $29,087 and Fantastic Corona Jr had six for $21,9983.
