OKLAHOMA CITY, OK—OCTOBER 31, 2014—Heritage Place opened their 36th annual Mixed Sale on Friday with a yearling session that saw the average up 25% over last year's fall yearling average.

Mr Barbosa, the first yearling to enter the ring, topped the session with a final bid of $55,000 from Tom Maher. Consigned by S&E Prepping, the colt by leading sire Tempting Dash is a half-brother to 2014 Oklahoma Futurity(G2) winner Paint Me Perry. His dam is a winning Mr Jess Perry out of three-time AQHA Racing Champion Kool Kue Baby.

Friday's opening session saw a total of 206 horses sold for $2,079,100. The average was $10,093 and median $5,500. The buy-back rate for both sessions on Friday was 13%.

"The demand for quality horses remains strong and I believe the numbers reflected that for our first day," Heritage Place Spence Kidney said Friday evening. "We look forward to a great sale tomorrow."

Golden State Million Futurity(G1) winner and multiple stakes producer Eye For Corona was the top selling broodmare in the first session at $132,000. MJ Farms purchased the daughter of Corona Cartel from Juiliana Hawn Holt. She was in-foal to leading sire Mr Jess Perry.

MJ Farms was the leading buyer with the one purchase in the first session. Darling Farms/Darling Oil Dan E Darling purchased five head for $101,900 and Ramon Vega paid $89,000 for four purchases.

Julianna Hawn Holt was the leading consignor and/or agent in the first session with two head that grossed $182,000. Lazy E Ranch, Agent sold 10 head for $155,100 and Burns Ranch had 10 head total $127,700.

All-time Leading First Crop sire One Famous Eagle led all sires of yearlings (by average with two or more sold) in the opening session with two head averaging $45,000. Tempting Dash the #2 Leading Second Crop sire had two yearling average $34,350 and Walk Thru Fire sired two head that averaged $28,250.

Favorite Cartel was the leading first-sale crop sire with three yearlings averaging $8,700. Givinitaroyaleffort had two yearlings average $3,750 and Good Reason SA sold two head for $2,950 average.

Cartels Candy Man was the leading covering sire (by average with two or more sold) in the first session with two in-foal mares that averaged $30,500. First crop sire Fantastic Corona Jr had two in-foal mares average $19,500 and High Rate Of Return, whose first crop races in 2016, had two in-foal mares average $15,000.
