AQHA Racing Education Project

Q-RACING—MARCH 8, 2017—If you could ask an expert one question about how to become involved in racing, what would it be?

AQHA is working on educational material to help people get more involved with racing and racehorse ownership. Part of this project includes interviewing racing experts to get their advice.

One of those experts is Russell Harris, who pretty much did it all during his 45 years as a trainer. He conditioned nearly 1,500 winners, including champions Florentine and Calyx, is a member of the Ruidoso Downs Racehorse Hall of Fame and has served as a member of the AQHA Race Committee and Racing Council.

He was the co-winner of the 2016 co-AQHA Racing Council Special Achievement Award winner and the 2006 Gordon Crone Special Achievement Award winner.

"We want to help people interested in becoming more involved with racing," said Jessica Hanke, the AQHA’s manager of racing. "It is important to be educated with proper information from expert horsemen to get the best start in this rewarding industry."

If you have a question you would like answered, email it to jhanke@aqha.org; it might be one of the featured questions answered by Russell or another expert.
