LOS ALAMITOS, CA—MARCH 30, 2017—Tony Guymon, the recipient of the PCQHRA Jockey Special Achievement Award in 2016, looks to enjoy another milestone in the very near future as he’s only one win shy from reaching 1,000 Quarter Horse victories in his riding career according to Equibase.com.

One of his biggest wins came at Los Alamitos last year when he piloted Fawna Knight’s Worth Doing to victory in the Los Alamitos Two Million Futurity. Guymon has piloted 7,763 Quarter Horses in his career.

Guymon will have a chance to reach the milestone tonight (Friday) when he rides the Stel Corona gelding Should Win from post five in the seventh race feature, an allowance event worth $11,325 at 330 yards. Guymon and Should Win were in the winner’s circle together earlier this year when the sorrel gelding broke his maiden easily on January 14.

Jockey Juan Sanchez continues to be one of the top stories of the 2017 meet. The 27-year-old pilot is enjoying a breakthrough year thus far, as he’s won 20 Thoroughbred races already and is only one behind leading rider Vinnie Bednar. Sanchez, who’s been riding for nearly six years now, has won 124 races since starting his career in 2011.

His first victories came for trainers Hector Sanchez, Charles Treece and Felix Gonzalez. Keep an eye on this pilot, as he continues to shine under the moon and stars at Los Alamitos.
