Remington Park Futurity Worth More Than $1 Million For First Time, Two Nights Of Trials On April 7th

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK—APRIL 2, 2017—The Remington Park Futurity will be contested on Saturday, April 22. The race for eligible 2-year-old Oklahoma-breds will carry a purse of $1,032,400, marking the first time in history the race has topped the million-dollar mark.

A total of 217 Oklahoma-bred 2-year-olds entered the trials, to be split into two nights of racing, with 12 trials each on Friday, April 7 and Saturday, April 8. All of the trials are at 330 yards with the fastest five runners at the distance each night, moving on to the April 22 final.

The final purse for the Remington Park Futurity received a supplemental bump as the connections of Double Eagle paid the $25,000 fee to enter the trials.

Owned by JK Running Horses of Neosho Falls, Kan. and trained by Kenny Laymon, the daughter of world champion / second crop sire One Dashing Eagle broke her maiden at first asking in a race on March 26 at Remington Park. Double Eagle won her 250-yard debut by a neck.

The 2017 Remington Park American Quarter Horse Season continues Thursday thru Sunday, April 6-9. The first race nightly is at 6pm with Sunday afternoon racing at 1:30pm. Thursday night will feature a pair of stakes races as the $61,800 Mr Jet Moore Stakes is conducted for Oklahoma-breds, 3 and older, at 350 yards.

The distance horses get their first stakes attempt of the season on Thursday night with the $50,000 Pauls Valley Stakes at 870 yards.
