OKLAHOMA CITY, OK—APRIL 30, 2017—The 2017 American Quarter Horse Season continues into the new month of May with live racing Thursday thru Sunday, May 4-7. The $100,000 Sooner State Stakes for older Oklahoma-breds is the local stakes feature with the big national race the simulcast of the 143rd Kentucky Derby, both will take place Saturday, May 6.

Remington Park racing will take place at 6pm on Thursday and Friday, May 4 & 5. Then on Saturday, May 6, live racing begins with a special 3:45pm post time with the action leading up to the simulcast of the Kentucky Derby from Churchill Downs in Louisville, Ky.

Following is the timeline for the festive Kentucky Derby simulcast day at Remington Park:

• 9am – Doors and pari-mutuel windows open 9:30am – 1st simulcast race from Churchill Downs
• 10:30am – Remington Park Casino opens
• 11am – Bricktown Brewery opens on casino floor
• Noon – full service begins in Silks and Club 1 on clubhouse level
• 2pm – Free Derby Day Hat & Tie Style Contest begins on clubhouse level
• 3:45pm – 1st Remington Park race
• 5:30pm – simulcast of the Kentucky Derby from Churchill Downs
• 8pm - $100,000 Sooner State Stakes at Remington Park
• 9pm – Southern Shine plays the Old No. 7 Stage in the casino
• 3am – Remington Park closes

The weekend of racing concludes on Sunday, May 7 with the first race at 1:30pm.

The horsemen’s races have just 20 racing dates remaining in the season that concludes on June 3. Jockey Ricky Ramirez leads the jockey standings with 34 wins while Agustin Silva is second with 24… Trey Wood leads the trainer standings with 25 victories while Clint Crawford is second with 16… The leading owners are currently Terry and Irene Stennett of Odessa, Texas with seven wins.
