Jockey Berkley Packer Gets 1,000th Career Quarter Horse Win

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK—MAY 9, 2017—Jockey Berkley Packer notched his 1,000-career Quarter Horse victory April 15th when he piloted In Class to victory in the 11th race at Remington Park.

Bob and Sissie McClure's 3-year-old Jesse James Jr gelding finished responded well under Packer to win a $19,000 Allowance by three-quarters.

The 45-year-old jockey reached the milestone after 7,101 starters. The native of Idaho Falls, Idaho who began riding in 1988 but went strictly Quarter Horses in 2008. He has also ridden 766 Thoroughbred winners. He currently ranks 85th by wins and 59th in earnings with nearly $10.4 million.

Last season Packer rode Jess Wild For You to victory in the $230,310 Valley Junction Futurity at Prairie Meadows and he won the 2010 Grade 2 $169,060 Dash For Cash Derby aboard Fishin Cr. Packer was the overall AQHA Racing Challenge high-point jockey in 2009.

In 2017 Packer has compiled a (77) 4-8-5 record and his mounts have earned $93,784.
