AQHA Racing National Poll Steady as Important Fall Stakes Approach

AMERICAN QUARTER HORSE ASSOCIATION—OCTOBER 25, 2017—Both AQHA Racing National Polls were basically unchanged this week after a weekend that featured four sets of trials for Grade 1 races but no major graded stakes. Hold Air Hostage remained atop the poll for 3-year-old and older horses for the 10th consecutive week, while Fly Baby Fly continued to reign in the 2-year-old poll for the eighth week in a row.

Over the weekend at Lone Star Park, Duponte, the No. 10-ranked horse in the poll for older horses, advanced to the final of the Texas Classic Derby (G1), and This Is An Eagle, No. 7 in the 2-year-old poll, earned a spot in the Texas Classic Futurity (G1). While no ranked horses came out of the trials for the Golden State Futurity (G1) or Los Alamitos Super Derby (G1) in California, the rich finals for those races figure to provide the chance for advancement in the poll.
