AMERICAN QUARTER HORSE ASSOCIATION—NOVEMBER 23, 2017—After making his first start in more than four months and extending his 2017 record to a perfect six-for-six, BH Lisas Boy inched up from No. 5 to No. 4 in the latest AQHA Racing National Poll for older horses.

The Idaho-bred gelding won one of the two Z. Wayne Griffin Directors Trials at Los Alamitos on Sunday that served as qualifiers for the December 16, $750,000 Champion of Champions (G1).

Bred, owned and trained by Bill Hoburg, BH Lisas Boy had already earned a berth in the prestigious race via a victory in the Los Alamitos Winter Championship (G1). He also scored in the Vessels Maturity (G1) in July before taking a break after surgery.

The Champion of Champions is slated to include four horses currently ranked in the top 10 with Heza Dash Fire (No. 3), The Fiscal Cliff (No. 6) and Chazaq (No. 10) joining BH Lisas Boy.

Reigning world champion Jessies First Down, currently the No. 2 ranked horse behind Hold Air Hostage, is set to run on Wednesday in the $150,000 Zia Park Championship (G1) in New Mexico.

There was little change in the poll for 2-year-olds with All American Futurity (G1) winner Fly Baby Fly again holding the No. 1 spot. On Sunday night, No. 3-ranked KVN Corona and No. 5-ranked J Fire Up are expected to run in the trials for the Los Alamitos Two Million Futurity (G1).
