IDAHO FALLS, ID—JANUARY 18, 2018—Sandy Downs, the home track of IdaRacing is gearing up for an action-packed 2018 racing season with June 8th set for the opening day.

The Idaho State Racing Commission has approved six live racing dates for the 2018 season; more races could be approved if warranted.

June 8 & 22 and July 4, 6, 13 & 20

IdaRacing is pleased to announce that Sandy Downs will be hosting numerous prestigious stakes races to excite regional horsemen and racing fans alike. The Idaho Quarter Horse Racing Association has announced that Sandy Downs will be the destination for the Bitterroot Futurity ($70,000 Added) & Bitterroot Derby ($15,000 Guaranteed Added); the Idaho Cup Series races – Futurity ($10,000 Estimated Added) & Derby ($10,000 Estimated Added). In addition, the American Quarter Horse Racing Association has announced that Sandy Downs will be the destination for the John Deere Juvenile Challenge ($30,000 Added) as well as the Boehringer Ingelheim Distaff Challenge ($18,000 Added). Additional Stakes races are being considered now; information will be posted as soon as it is available.

Racing fans and area horsemen are encouraged to attend the Idaho Quarter Horse Racing Division’s annual Award Banquet this Saturday, January 20th at Cactus Pete’s in Jackpot, NV. There is a no-host social hour from 6-7pm with a buffet dinner & awards presentation following. There are many regional horsemen to be honored as well as the induction of Lin Melton into the Horsemen’s Hall of Fame. The Bitterroot Stallion Service Auction is scheduled for January 21st. at 1pm.
