TUCSON, AZ--JANUARY 31, 2018--Famed historic racetrack Rillito Park, the birthplace of modern day Quarter Horse racing, will kick-off it's 75th season on February 10. General manager Michael Weiss created a schedule that includes six weekends of racing, through March 18.
A mixed meet of Quarter Horse and Thoroughbred racing will be held at 1 p.m. (MST) on each Saturday and Sunday. There are few afternoons in sports in Tucson to match a day at Rillito.
Weiss begins his third year as General Manager and Scott Little joins him this season as Assistant Manager. Both are alumni of the University of Arizona Race Track Industry Program.
"The celebration of 75 years is quite an accomplishment, and we look forward to an action-packed winter meet, including a visit from the world-famous Budweiser Clydesdales," according to Weiss. "We expect to have as many as 30 U of A students interested in the racing industry from the Race Track Industry Program working at the track and will have an alumni reunion this year," he added.
Rillito Race Track will again air simulcasts and pari-mutuel wagering available from tracks around the country.
