SHELBYVILLE, IN-FEBRUARY 9, 2018--Thoroughbred and Quarter Horse racing will be held beginning Tuesday, April 17 and continue through Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2018 at Indiana Grand Racing & Casino. The track will offer more than $1.5 million in stakes purses for Quarter Horses.

The $150,000-added Miss Roxie Little Futurity, $100,000-added Jaguar Rocket Stakes and $100,0000-added QHRAI SSA Futurity are among highlights for 2-year-olds at the Indiana racetrack again in 2018.

Six-figure added races for 3-year-olds include the $100,000-added Sterlie Bertram Memorial and $100,000-added Blue River Derby. Four-year-olds and up will have three $75,000-added "Classic Series" to point for that include the Born Runner, Bob Woodard Memorial and Hoosier Park.

"Quarter Horse racing once again strengthened in 2017 at Indiana Grand," said Jon Schuster, vice president and general manager of racing. "We saw some new horsemen competing in our stakes races and saw some really talented two and three-year-olds this year. In fact, we had a three-year-old Indiana bred filly, Keen Liaison, nominated for an AQHA Racing Champions year-end award at Heritage Place in January. There have been only a few Indiana breds nominated for this honor. With more than $1.5 million again in stakes purses for 2018, I believe we will continue to see growth in our Quarter Horse racing." Six dates during 2018 will be dedicated to all-Quarter Horse race cards:

• June 2
• July 7
• August 11
• September 15
• October 6
• October 27

The 16th season of Thoroughbred and Quarter Horse racing will begin Tuesday, April 17 and conclude Wednesday, Nov. 7. Racing will be conducted Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday at 2:05 p.m. EST with Saturday racing beginning at 6:05 p.m. EST. Two special Thursday racing dates will be held July 19 and Sept. 6 at 2:05 p.m. EST.
