SunRay Park Set To Open 2018 Live Racing Meet April 21

FARMINGTON, NM—MARCH 29, 2018—SunRay Park in Farmington, New Mexico, will open its 33-day Thoroughbred and American Quarter Horse meet on Saturday, April 21.

Located in the Four Corners region of the state, SunRay plans to pay more than $4 million in purses to both breeds. The track will offer live racing primarily on a Friday-through-Monday schedule. Post times on Saturdays and Sundays will be 1:15 p.m. (MDT) and 3 p.m. on Fridays and Mondays.

SunRay Park will again offer "Freaky Fast Fridays," where its programs will consist exclusively of Quarter Horse races. The track's Monday programs will consist exclusively of Thoroughbred races.

SunRay's Quarter Horse stakes schedule will be topped by the 350-yard, $100,000-est. New Mexico Breeders' Futurity (RG3) on May 13, and the 350-yard, $100,000-est. Four Corners Futurity on closing day, June 17.

SunRay Park received stall requests for more than 1,400 horses. On the wagering side, the track will offer a 50-cent Super Hi5 wager with a 100-percent carryover option if no bettor has a winning ticket. In addition, the track will again present a "Guest Paddock Host" program with a host of informative speakers, including a series of students from the University of Arizona Race Track Industry Program.

SunRay Park also has a new video services company, International Sound Corporation. New equipment and a new video team has been hired to present the track's simulcast feed.

SunRay also has a new official partner hotel, Home 2 Suites by Hilton, located at 777 South Browning Parkway in Farmington. The hotel will offer a special SunRay rate of $86 per night (double occupancy) to horsemen and fans.
