Top Remington Park Trainer Rodney Reed Passes
Remington Park will honor Rodney Reed with a moment of remembrance prior to the National Anthem when racing resumes on Thursday night.

Top Remington Park Trainer Rodney Reed Passes

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK—APRIL 25, 2018—Rodney Reed, 62, a training fixture during the American Quarter Horse Season at Remington Park, passed away on April 23 after enduring health complications.

At the height of his career, Reed dominated the Quarter Horse racing season at Remington Park, winning 10 training titles (1990, 1995-2003), more than any other conditioner in track history. His 47 winners in 2001 set the record for most victories in one season. Reed held that mark until trainer Eddie Willis reset the record with 53 wins in 2011.

Inducted into the Oklahoma Horse Racing Hall of Fame at Remington Park in 2010, Reed saddled the winners of 17 career Grade 1 races. At Remington Park he won the Heritage Place Futurity three times with Rakin In The Cash (1996), Fast First Prize (2002) and Phoebes Otoole (2004). Reed won the Remington Park Futurity three times, scoring with Chicks Call Me (1999), Le Magnifique FG (2001) and Lota PYC (2012).

Reed managed his racing operations out of Wapanucka, Okla., and was primarily based in racing around Oklahoma throughout his career that started in 1978.

Overall at Remington Park, Rodney Reed won 575 races with earnings topping $7.4 million. According to the American Quarter Horse Association, Reed won 1,764 races in his career with total earnings of more than $17.8 million.
