Remington Park To Host Annual Betting On A Cure Saturday

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK—MAY 30, 2018—Horsemen and women are encouraged to join the OQHRA for an evening of exciting Quarter Horse racing, including the $1 million Heritage Place Futurity(G1), to raise money and awareness for Cancer Saturday (June 2) at Remington Park.

Everyone is invited to be OQHRA's guest (for dinner) in the Eclipse Restaurant with free admission and valet parking to support Betting On A Cure's Rein In Cancer annual event. The event will include a dinner buffet, live and silent auctions, and other fun entertainment during the evening of races.

"This year for Betting On A Cure we are not just pink, we are multicolored," Debbie Schauf, OQHRA Executive Director said. "Grey for Brain Cancer, Gold for Childhood Cancer, Black for Melanoma, Purple for Pancreatic Cancer . . . the list goes on. This viscous disease is bigger than pink and so many in our racing family are in a battle for their life. We support them all," she added.

"Rein In Cancer is here for everyone, no matter the type of cancer. Please join us as a community to fight for a cure," Schauf said.

"We have chosen to support Rein In Cancer because of the dollars they give back to our horsemen diagnosed with any form of cancer. Once our member receives a diagnosis of cancer, they are immediately eligible for a $500 grant from Rein In Cancer to help cover those unanticipated costs associated with the disease and which are not covered by insurance.

Shorty from Shorty's Hattery in Oklahoma City established this wonderful charity in remembrance of her sister and another use of the funds is to endow the Shirley Bowman Nutritional Center at the OU Cancer center," Schauf added.

Racing at Remington Park will get underway at 5 p.m. (CST). A live auction and raffle auction will be conducted to benefit Rein In Cancer.

Persons planning to attend should RSVP to OQHRA at (405) 216-0440 or OQHRA2@aol.com.
