AMERICAN QUARTER HORSE ASSOCIATION—JULY 20, 2018—The second Idaho-bred of the year has earned an AQHA Supreme Race Horse title. The Supreme Race Horse title recognizes a racing American Quarter Horse that during its career earns $500,000 or more, wins two or more open Grade 1 stakes races and at least 10 races.

Only a few months ago, Idaho-bred BH Lisas Boy became a Supreme Race Horse, and on July 8, his rival, Zoomin For Spuds, achieved the same award while defeating him in the Vessels Maturity (G1).

Zoomin For Spuds races for his breeder, Jim Walker of Bellevue, Idaho, and is trained by Monty Arrossa. The 5-year-old gelding is by Zoomin For Bux and out of the Corona Cocktail mare A Perfect Cocktail.

From 31 career starts, he has won 11 races, including nine stakes races. Two of those were the Grade 1 Champion of Champions and Vessels Maturity. The sport’s champion 3-year-old gelding of 2016 has earned $650,441.

Zoomin For Spuds became the 41st horse since 2002 to earn this honor. Only 112 horses in total have earned the award; the other awards were given retroactively.
