PCQHRA To Pay Start Fees To All Horses Racing On California Breeders Champions Night

LOS ALAMITOS, CA—JULY 27, 2018—With a 12-race card, 11 of them stakes races, the 19th edition of California Breeders Champions Night promises to be a showcase event for California-bred American Quarter Horses this Saturday at Los Alamitos Race Course.

In addition to the more than $885,000 in purse money that will be up for grabs as part of the California Breeders Champions Night card, the Pacific Coast Quarter Horse Racing Association will also offer an additional incentive for owners starting a horse on Saturday.

"The PCQHRA Board has approved to give the owners a $300 start fee for each and every single horse racing this Saturday at Los Alamitos," said Dominic "Bud Alessio, the president of PCQHRA. "Usually horses that finish 6th place or below in a stakes races would not receive the $300 start fee on California Breeders Champions Night, but this year every single owner racing a horse on Saturday, whether their horse finishes first or 10th, will receive an additional $300 per horse paid by PCQHRA. This is a direct benefit to racehorse owners and is in addition to the purse money available on Saturday night."

With 94 horses set to race, PCQHRA will pay $28,200 in additional money on Saturday night.

"We appreciate the continued support of the great horsemen and horsewomen in California," Alessio added. "On behalf of the PCQHRA, I look forward to a safe and exciting night of great Quarter Horse racing."

The PCQHRA is the recognized representative of California’s racing Quarter Horse owners, breeders and trainers and is one of the nation’s largest and most active Quarter Horse state racing associations.
