World Record Falls As Heritage Place Fall Mixed Sale Gets Off To Strong Start

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK—NOVEMBER 2, 2018—The Heritage Place Fall Mixed breeding stock sale got off on the right foot Friday, with a world record price paid for a Quarter Horse stallion at auction and numbers that exceeded the expectations of buyers, sellers and sales company officials.

Heritage Place reported 208 horses were sold Friday for a total of $4,521,400, an average of $13,460 and a median price of $6,000.

A world-record price of $2.1-million, for a Quarter Horse stallion at auction, was paid by Bobby D. Cox for the 2016 AQHA Racing Champion Aged Stallion Moonin The Eagle, a multiple Grade 1 winner of $548,985. Chris Benedict, Agent for AECOM/URS Federal Services consigned the 6-year-old son of leading sire One Famous Eagle.

"Obviously everyone is very excited about the record high-seller today," Heritage Place General Manager Spence Kidney said late Friday

"All things considered the 2018 sale is very steady as compared to last year’s sale. If you remove the high-seller today and the high seller on day 1 last year (Jet Black Patriot for $725,000) from the equation we are basically even with last year and 90% of the horses offered were sold today. The yearling session average was down 6% compared to that session last year but all-in-all we had a great sale today," he added.
