Chilitos Runs Into Newest AQHA Racing Poll

AMERICAN QUARTER HORSE ASSOCIATION—OCTOBER 12, 2019—The $344,050 Dash For Cash Futurity (G2) provided a dash of excitement for the AQHA Racing National Polls, as winner Chilitos debuted in the 2-year-old rankings at No. 7.

The Apollitical Jess colt owned by Omar and Anna Paredes defeated favored Trump My Record by a neck in the race, held on October 5 at Lone Star Park. The runner-up in the race came in at No. 6 in the poll, just as he did in the previous rankings.

The rest of the juvenile poll saw All American Futurity (G1) winner Mr Jess Jenkins retaining the top position, with Rainbow Futurity (G1) winner Uncle D a few points behind him.

There was minimal change in the older horse rankings, with Apocalyptical Jess, a two-time graded stakes winner this year, again ranked at No. 1. The sophomore filly, Rustys Miracle, sits just a few points behind him after her thrilling All American Derby (G1) win over Labor Day weekend.

The next set of polls is set to be released the week of October 28, with the October 26 Bank of America Challenge Championships at Albuquerque Downs among the racing highlights leading up to those rankings.

This coming weekend’s action includes the Grade 1 Los Alamitos Invitational Championships with No. 6-ranked older horse BH Lisas Boy expected to be among the entrants, and the Grade 1 Refrigerator Stakes at Lone Star Park with No. 4-ranked Political Attraction among the favorites.

Prior to the release of the next polls, graded stakes are also scheduled at Prairie Meadows, Zia Park and Century Downs.
