Geldings Continue To Be Hot Ticket at Heritage Place Winter Mixed Sale

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK—JANUARY 17, 2020—Geldings continue to be a hot ticket at the 2020 Heritage Place Winter Mixed Sale. For the second day in a row a gelding has taken the top spot as the highest-seller.

"Compared to the entire sale for 2019 the two-day average isup 1% over last year. RNA’a were at a minimum today and the demand remains strong," Heritage Place General Manager Spence Kidney said Friday evening.

Through two days of the 2020 42nd annual sale, Heritage Place Sale Company has reported 424 horses sold, from the 488 offered, for gross receipts of $5,041,734. The average is $11,891 and the median price is $8,000.

For a second day in a row a gelding was the top seller when Cesar Nunez and Christina Flores paid $101,000 for Hip 474, Corona By Corona. Lazy E Ranch, LLC, Agent for McColee Land & Livestock, LLC consigned the 4-year-old son of leading sire Corona Cartel from the Jess Louisiana Blue mare Louisana Corona. Corona By Corona is stakes winner of $118,629.

Monty McNair paid $67,000 for Saturday's second high-seller, Hip 402 Specials Jamie, an 8-year-old daughter of multiple stakes sire Ivory James from the Make It Anywhere mare Special Anywhere. Marty Powers, Agent consigned the stakes winner in foal to champion Kvn Corona.

Saturday's third-high-seller, Hip 430 Midnite Blue, a gelding by champion sire First Moonflash brought a $60,000 from the Midnite Sindicate. Marty Powers, Agent sold the 4-year-old stakes winning gelding out of The Blues Girl by Corona Cartel.

Cesar Nunez and Christina Flores lead all buyers through two session with three purchases for $221,000. Cuadrael Mashta has 12 purchases totaling $178,800 and JGA Racing Stables, Inc. has 4 for $116,000.

Lazy E Ranch, LLC, Agent is the leading consignor or agent through two sessions with 36 head for $648,034. Bobby D. Cox has sold 39 head for $420,900 and Marty Powers, Agent has 30 head for $392,700. Lazy E Ranch, LLC, Agent for individual consignors is also the 6th and 8th leading seller through two days.

Apollitical Jess is the leading "short yearling" sire (by average with two or more sold) through two sessions with two head averaging $29,500. Good Reason SA sold two for $21,350 average and first-sale crop sire Duponte has seven short yearling averaging $18,029. First sale-year covering sire Kvn Corona leads covering sires through two sessions (by average with two or more sold) with two in-foal mares averaging $68,500. One Famous Eagle has two for $30,000 and Jess Good Candy has two in-foal mares at $22,250.
