CYPRESS, CA—JANUARY 25, 2020—AQHA Racing's 2019 World Champion He Looks Hot has been retired after finishing last of six in a division of the Brad McKinzie Los Alamitos Winter Championship trials on Jan. 19.

Owner and breeder Ed Allred and trainer Scott Willoughby made the announcement on Thursday during the Pacific Coast Quarter Horse Racing Association’s annual awards dinner at Los Alamitos where the 8-year-old son of champion sire Walk Thru FIre was honored as the organization’s Horse of the Year for 2019.

He Looks Hot also clinched the 2019 AQHA Racing Champion Aged Horse and Champion Aged Gelding following his win in the $600,000 Champion of Champions(G1) at Los Alamitos in December.

He Looks Hot will be retired to Allred’s Rolling A Ranch in Atascadero, Calif.

“He’ll be in a pasture at his new home,” Allred said. “He can live to be 35 and he’ll always have a home.”

He Looks Hot, out of the Check Him Out mare Look Her Over, won 14 of 39 starts and earned $1,618,055. He also won the 2014 Los Alamitos Two Million Futurity(G1), Spencer Childers California Breeders' Championship(RG1) in 2017 and 2019 and the Robert L Boniface Los Alamitos Invitational Championship(G1) in 2018.

He Looks Hot survived three colic surgeries in his racing career – two in 2015 and one in 2018.
