SHAKOPEE, MN–JULY 22, 2024–Twenty-one 2-year-olds are entered in Wednesday's 350-yard Northlands Futurity trials at Canterbury Park.

L Conejo, a stakes-placed son of One Sweet Jess owned and trained by Haley Hobbs, will be stretching out in distance off of his half-length victory in a 330-yard, $17,000 maiden-special-weight dash for Minnesota-bred juveniles on June 27.

The sorrel gelding has earned $16,690 from four races in Minnesota and Oklahoma, and his record includes a third-place finish, two lengths behind winner Kiss My White Socks, in the June 6, 300-yard North Star State Derby (R) at Canterbury Park.

L Conejo drew the rail post and will be ridden by Fernando Fonseca-Soto in the second of three trials.

The 10 fastest qualifiers will meet in the August 16, $86,000-est. Northlands Futurity final.

Also on Wednesday, a dozen sophomores are entered in two 400-yard Canterbury Park Derby trials.
