MEXICO CITY, MEX–OCTOBER 26, 2025–Princesa Bury delivered another wire-to-wire performance under jockey Alejandro Gómez to win Sunday’s $44,630 Mexican Breeders’ Derby at the Hipódromo de las Américas.
Princesa Bury stopped the timer in 21.63 seconds over 440 yards, earning a 98 speed index and holding off Dk Torito Cartel by a neck. The daughter of Danny Cartel banked $18,720 USD, raising her lifetime earnings to $232,000 USD.
She has now won 11 career races, including five victories during her three-year-old Derby season. Trained by Juan José Razo for Cuadra Guillen, Princesa Bury was bred in Mexico by Armando León out of Princesa Bury Buu by One Dashing Eagle. Cuadra Guillen purchased the champion filly for $29,132 USD at the Mexico Select Yearling Sale.

Runner-up Dk Torito Cartel, with Arturo Vega Moreno aboard, finished a neck back after a late surge. The three-year-old has hit the board in 11 of 14 starts with three wins and $84,665, and earlier this season, he finished second in the Mexico Derby and was a finalist in the Subasta Selecta.
Dk Fuego De Danny, ridden by Paul Osvaldo Rodríguez, completed the trifecta a length behind the runner-up. His ledger stands at 5-3-2 from 13 starts with $193,192 in earnings. He finished fourth in this year’s Subasta Selecta Derby and was a finalist in the Mexico Derby.
Luis Enrique Cruz trained the second and third-place horses for Cuadra San Martín. Cuadra La Presita bred the stablemates, who are both sired by leading Mexico sire Danny Cartel. Dk Torito Cartel is out of Ms Darlin Reason Sa by Good Reason Sa, while Dk Fuego De Danny is out of the Walk Thru Fire mare Bauty Fire.
The remaining order of finish includes Se Viejo Hero, Fredas Wagon, Cc Regal Jack, Se Panther Viejo, Espejo Avalon, Principe Alfredo, La Scaloneta Sr, and Dk Tormenta
