Presido Pete Scores Back-to-Back Stakes Wins in Leo Beau Dash Stakes

AURORA, CO–NOVEMBER 1, 2025–Presido Pete continued his dominant fall campaign with a another stakes win in the $16,500 Leo Beau Dash Stakes on Saturday afternoon at Arapahoe Park.

Under jockey Fernando Fonseca-Soto, the Presido Pete stopped the clock in :19.940 seconds for 400 yards and earned a 96 speed index. The post-time favorite’s win was worth $9,900 to the connections and paid $6.60 on a $2.00 wager.

Trained by Haley Hobbs, Presido Pete broke on top and never looked back, holding steady control to finish three-quarters of a length in front Apolliticalbest Card, who placed second. First Prize Grown Go crossed the wire in third.

Owned and bred in Colorado by Francisco J. Cornejo, Presido Pete is out of Tahiti Wave by Wave Carver. The 4-year-old son of The Marfa Lights earned his second consecutive stakes win this season and third career stakes victory, adding to his earlier scores in the Dolls Prodigy Stakes last month and the Lucile Rowe Derby last year.

Apolliticalbest Card, ridden by Jayden Ironeyes, finished three-quarters of a length behind the winner to take second. The 3-year-old filly is bred, owned, and trained by Gerardo Herrera out of Apolli by Apollitical Jess.

The daughter of Docs Best Card earned her first black type in the effort after finishing as a finalist in both the Lucile Rowe Derby and Cherry Creek Futurity earlier in her career. The $16,000 repurchase from the 2023 Heritage Place Fall Mixed Sale has two wins and three seconds from nine starts and career earnings of $29,670.

First Prize Grown Go, under Jhaciel Soto, earned her first black type by finishing third for owner Ximena Mireles and trainer Roberto Gomez. The 4-year-old mare closed steadily to finish 1 1/2 lengths behind the runner-up, completing the distance in :20.174 seconds.

Bred in Colorado by Fidel Roybal, the daughter of First Prize Houston is out of Glow N Go Tell by Genuine Strawfly. She was also a finalist in the Dolls Prodigy Stakes and Gillette Derby last season.

The remaining order of finish includes El Capitan Lew, Country Rocket Foose, Jess No Secrets, Kvn Dulce Corona, Cardenali, Diabolical Clyde, and Chico Fabuloso.
